The Vision Behing UNCOMMON Jewelry

When people ask me where the idea for UNCOMMON Jewelry came from, the truth is that it didn’t start with jewelry at all.

It started many years ago with a little girl who loved creativity.

I was the child who spent hours playing dress-up, creating outfits with Fashion Plates, and imagining different versions of who I could become. There was something powerful about putting pieces together and creating a look that felt uniquely my own.

As I grew older, that love of creativity never disappeared. It simply found new places to live.

For more than thirty years, my professional life was spent in education. I was a classroom teacher, an instructional leader, and eventually a principal. Every morning, before I ever stepped into a classroom or a meeting, I made a conscious decision about how I wanted to show up.

It wasn’t about wearing expensive clothes.

In fact, many times it wasn’t.

Schools are busy places. There are students running through hallways, teachers solving problems, and a thousand unexpected moments in every day. But even when I wasn’t wearing designer labels, I wanted to feel polished, professional, and prepared.

I believed then, and I still believe now, that how we present ourselves matters.

Not because appearance is everything, but because confidence matters.

For years, I shared a simple saying with students:

If you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you do good.

That wasn’t about vanity. It was about self-respect.

It was about showing up as your best self.

I saw firsthand how confidence changed the way people carried themselves, spoke up in meetings, tackled challenges, and pursued opportunities. The way we present ourselves often becomes part of the story we tell ourselves about who we are.

Then came COVID.

Like many people, I watched as the world shifted overnight. Professional wardrobes were replaced by yoga pants, sweatshirts, and home offices. Comfort became the priority, and understandably so.

But when schools reopened, I noticed something interesting.

The challenge wasn’t simply getting people back into buildings. It was helping people reconnect with the mindset of intentionally showing up again.

Because what we wear is often tied to how we see ourselves.

That idea stayed with me.

And eventually, it became one of the sparks that led to UNCOMMON Jewelry.

Yes, I love beautiful bracelets.

I love color, texture, sparkle, and design.

But what I love even more is what those pieces represent.

Every bracelet I create is designed to be a reminder. A reminder of confidence. A reminder of courage. A reminder to walk into a room knowing exactly who you are.

That’s why the stories matter.

That’s why the names matter.

And that’s why this business is about so much more than jewelry.

As for the future?

I have big dreams.

I want to continue exploring new ways to create. I want to learn new techniques, experiment with metal clay, and design pieces that tell even deeper stories. I can see rings, necklaces, bangles, and collections that extend far beyond where UNCOMMON Jewelry is today.

And if I’m being completely honest, I have an even bigger vision.

One day, I would love to build a jewelry brand known not only for beautiful designs but for meaningful ones. A brand people think of when they’re celebrating milestones, weddings, achievements, new beginnings, and life’s most important moments.

Why couldn’t UNCOMMON Jewelry become that?

Every well-known brand started as someone’s idea.

Someone’s dream.

Someone’s willingness to create something before anyone else could see the finished picture.

Today, that picture is still being painted.

But the vision is clear.

UNCOMMON Jewelry was never just about bracelets.

It’s about helping women wear confidence, carry meaning, and show up as the most authentic version of themselves.

And this is only the beginning.
