Why Women Keep Reaching for the Same Piece of Jewelry

We all have those pieces in our closets that we reach for over and over again.

Think about your favorite pair of shoes. You know the ones. They fit perfectly. They’re comfortable. They look great with just about anything, and when you put them on, you feel like you can take on the day.

Or maybe it’s that perfect pair of pants. The ones that fit in all the right places. They’re not too long, not too short, and they don’t suddenly become uncomfortable after you’ve enjoyed a good meal. They make you feel good about yourself, and you find yourself reaching for them every chance you get.

I believe jewelry works the same way.

When you find that one piece of jewelry that feels like it was made just for you, something happens. It becomes more than an accessory. It becomes part of how you show up in the world.

And today, I was reminded of exactly what that feels like.

Sometimes It Takes a Moment in the Mirror

This morning, I participated in a vendor event for UNCOMMON Jewelry. It was in a community I wasn’t particularly familiar with, surrounded by people I didn’t know. Someone who knew me had recommended my business, which was wonderful, but I’ll admit something.

I was nervous.

Every time I put my jewelry on display for a new audience, there’s a little bit of anxiety. I’m proud of what I’m building, and I believe deeply in the quality, beauty, and meaning behind every piece. But putting something you’ve created in front of strangers takes courage.

I got dressed in a comfortable pair of track pants, tennis shoes, and a white T-shirt. Nothing particularly fancy. Because it was chilly outside, I added a sweatshirt.

But before leaving the house, I reached for two pieces of jewelry.

My Signature bracelet and the new Signature necklace I’ve been designing for 2027.

I’ve been working on that necklace for a while, making little adjustments and trying to get everything just right. I’ve even hesitated to wear it because there are still a few details I’m perfecting.

But something told me to put it on today.

And I’m so glad I did.

As the morning progressed, the weather warmed up, the sweatshirt came off, and I spent time talking with women about UNCOMMON Jewelry, our designs, and the story behind the brand.

At one point, I stepped inside to use the restroom.

As I was washing my hands, I glanced in the mirror.

And something caught my eye.

It was the necklace.

The way it looked with my white shirt. The way it complemented my complexion. The way it worked with my bracelet, my hair, and the simplicity of my outfit.

And I had this thought.

I look pretty.

Not because I was dressed up. Not because I was wearing something expensive. Not because anyone had complimented me.

I simply looked in the mirror and felt good about the woman looking back at me.

I felt confident. I felt beautiful. I felt like I belonged exactly where I was.

And suddenly, some of that nervousness I’d been carrying around all morning didn’t seem quite so important.

I walked back outside with my head held a little higher.

And wouldn’t you know it? I made a sale shortly afterward.

It’s Never Just About the Jewelry

Now, I don’t believe a bracelet or necklace magically creates confidence.

Confidence comes from within. It comes from knowing who you are, believing in what you’re doing, and being willing to show up even when you’re nervous.

But I do believe the things we choose to wear can remind us of that confidence.

Sometimes we need that reminder.

A bracelet that reminds us we’re strong.

A necklace that makes us feel beautiful.

A piece of jewelry that represents something we’ve overcome, something we’re building, or the woman we’re becoming.

That’s why we keep reaching for the same pieces.

Not necessarily because they’re the most expensive or the most elaborate.

But because they feel like us.

They fit our personality. They complement our style. They remind us of something meaningful.

And when we put them on, we feel ready.

Find the Piece That Feels Like You

Today, I think I found my necklace.

Yes, I’ll probably continue making a few adjustments before its official release. That’s part of my commitment to creating jewelry with intention.

But I already know how it makes me feel.

And that’s what I want for every woman who wears UNCOMMON Jewelry.

I want her to look down at her wrist or catch her reflection in a mirror and remember that she belongs in the room. That she is worthy of success. That she deserves to build a life she loves.

Because the right piece of jewelry doesn’t make you someone different.

It reminds you of the woman you already are.

And maybe that’s the real reason we keep reaching for it.
